Dr. Michael Brooks - Lead Pastor
Dr. Michael Brooks and his wife, Donna, have been serving Siluria Baptist Church since June 30, 2014. He earned the B.A. degree in religion and speech from Samford University, the M.A. in speech communication from Auburn University, and both the M.Div. and D.Min. degrees at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky
His hobbies include writing for publication - including a weekly devotional and evangelical column used in newspapers around the state (see Pastor's Column on this site and the Siluria Facebook page), reading--especially history and biography, and collecting political memorabilia. He's treasurer of the Republican Political Items Collectors and vice-president and newsletter editor of the Carter Political Items Collectors. Currently, he's serving on the board of the Alabama Citizens Action Program (ALCAP), an organization that deals with legislative and moral issues, and as chair of the Christian Life Commission of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. He is also current president of the Shelby County Baptist Association's pastors conference and vice-moderator of the association.
The Brookses are parents to two children, Jami and John, and grandparents to three boys, all living in the Birmingham area.

GARDNER FISH - Student Pastor
Gardner is a Pelham native and graduated from Pelham High School in 2013. After graduation he attended Williams College in Massachusetts for two years where he was a history major and played football. It was while at Williams he felt God’s call to ministry and transferred to the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary’s Birmingham extension. Gardner is now a senior and will complete his undergraduate degree in Christian Ministry with a double minor in Biblical Studies and Church Ministry. He plans to continue in the M.Div. program at the extension.
Gardner has a passion for preaching God's Word and has a heart for evangelism and discipleship. He is excited to be serving Siluria as interim Student Pastor. He is also the grandson of Siluria members Robert and Betty Gardner, and Sarah Robbins is his significant other and a member of our church.
Don Palmer - Interim Music Minister
Don Palmer sensed God's call to music ministry as a young man and enrolled at Samford University. After service in the U.S. Army, he earned the M.Div. degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas. Following graduation, he returned to the South and has served churches in Alabama and Georgia for more than 50 years.
Tim Storey - Sunday School Director
Tim Storey and his wife, Elaine, came to Siluria in 2015. Tim retired from the Alabaster Police Department in 2009 following a 31-year career in law enforcement, where from 2000 - 2009 he had the honor of serving as chaplain. Tim has a passion for small group ministry and outreach, constantly searching for ways to grow our Sunday School spiritually and numerically. He has an outgoing personality and always tries to help others.
Tim and Elaine are parents to three children, Jamie, Chris and Candice, who have blessed them with 10 awesome grandchildren.
Katie Abney - Office Manager
Katie has served as office manager since June 2007. She is known for her superb organization, hard work and her passion for serving others. Each week, she handles the day-to-day responsibilities in the office with a smile and a heart of compassion. Katie earned a degree from the University of Montevallo and loves to read history in her spare time.
